Partial Oxidation of Methane to Syngas over Ni-based Catalysts

During the last decade or so, considerable account of efforts have been devoted to the conversion of methane to transportable and/or value added products. Besides the well-known methane oxidative coupling process, partial oxidation of methane to syngas has recently been found to be promising. High selectivity of CO and H_2 with excellent methane conversion have been reported over a number of supported transition metal catalysts, particularly the Ni-based catalysts. In this paper, the CH_4/O_2 to syngas reaction over several Ni-based catalysts is investigated, particular attention will be focused on the influence of support to activity, selectivity and stability of catalyst.
