In a companion paper (Glicksman, et al., 1995 - referred to as Part 1 ), the simplified set of scaling parameters developed by Glicksman et al. (1993) were used to construct a quarter scale model of American Electric Power's (AEP) Tidd 70 MWe pressurized bubbling bed combustor. Comparisons between the probability density functions of the pressure fluctuations and the average solid fraction profiles showed excellent agreement. In this study, the simplified scaling parameters were applied to circulating fluidized beds pressurized to 14 bar. A 1/2 scale model of the hot pressurized circulating fluidized bed constructed and operated by Foster Wheeler Development Corp. in Livingston, NJ has been constructed. Recently completed validation tests included comparisons of the vertical solids distribution along with the probability density functions and power spectral densities of the pressure fluctuations within the beds. The data suggest good agreement when the simplified scaling parameters are held constant between the hot combustor and cold model.
