The paper presents results of simulation and measurements of smart structure vibration and its sound radiation. Structure consist of aluminium plate with bonded PZT piezoceramics. The PZT actuators are used as source to attenuate vibration and in consequence sound radiation. Vibration measurements were conducted in sound insulation suite comprised of two reverberation chambers with test opening in between. The test setup was used to analyze vibrations and sound radiation of damped plate, and to compare the results with an undamped plate. Simulation of experiment and numerical computations were done with use of FEM supported by ANSYS software. A model of the test plate was used to explore the mechanism of sound radiation and active control of vibration.
