In this paper we report on experimental investigation of c-axis oriented YBa_2Cu_3O_(7-δ)/PrBa_2Cu_3O_(7-δ)/YBa_2Cu_3O_(7-δ) trilayer junctions with three different barrier thicknesses (20 nm, 75 nm and 100 nm) and their Josephson characteristics. Josephson currents are detected for all junctions. The critical current density for 100 nm barrier sheet is 115 A/cm~2 which yields a Josephson penetration depth of 4 μm. Compared to the junction width of 40 fun this indicates that the Josephson junction is in the wide limit. Doping the barrier with gallium yields a one order of magnitude higher resistivity and decreases the critical current density of the junction. This makes it possible to prepare junctions in the small limit where the current distribution is homogeneous.
