The thermodynamic data of the reaction ZrAl_2 (s) + At (s,1) = ZrAl_3 (s) have been obtained in the temperature range from 850 to 950 K by the solid state cell Pt/ZrAl_2 (s)-ZrAl_3 (s)-AlF_3 (s)/CaB_2/Ni(s)-FiN_2 (s)/Pt. At 900K they are: #DELTA#_rG deg_(900) (1)=-30+- 7 kJ mol~(-1); #DELTA#_rS deg_(900) (1)=23 +- 3 J K~(-1) mol~(-1); #DELTA#_rH deg_(900)(1)=-9_5 +- 8 kJ mol~(-1). #DELTA#_rH deg_(298)(1)= -9 +- 8 kJ mol~(-1). At 1073 K and at the oxygen partial pressures 0.8 and 9 Pa, the oxidation kinetics and the gettering capacity for oxygen of both the aluminides are given.
