摘要

The objective of the work presented in this paper is the thermal plasma production of nanoscaled and homogeneously mixed SiC/TiC composite powders by vapor phase reactions of SiG4/TiCl4 mixtures with C2H4. The investigations were done in an r.f. induction plasma (30 kW plate power, 4 MHz) driven with Ar/ft, mixtures at atmospheric pressure. The composite composition is directly determined by the composition of the starting mixture, so that composite powders can be generated in all compositions of interest for ceramic applications. The unbonded carbon in the powders is in the range of 5-10wt%. First investigations to reduce free carbon in SiC and TiC powders are presented.
