Permeation, dissolution and diffusion of permanent gases and condensable vapors in plasma polymerized membranes from fluorocarbons were studied, Generally, the permeability coefficients decreased with increasing kinetic molecular diameter. When the kinetic molecular diameters were similar, condensable vapors showed higher permeabilities than that of permanent gases. The solubility increased with increasing critical temperature. However, in case of propane, despite its high critical temperature, it showed lower solubilitie than the other vapors. The vapor diffusivity decreased with increasing kinetic molecular diameter. In our plasma polymer, the permeability showed very similar values to the values in conventional polymers, and that was result of higher values of solubility and lower values of diffusivity.
