In man, the incidence of primary tumors of the heart ranges from 0.0017 to 0.28%. The most common tumor is the myxoma (30-50%) which is usually benign and is typically located in the left atrium.The pathological features of myxomas are similar to a thrombus which has led some to suggest that they are not true neoplasms but represent a form of endocardial thrombus. Approximately 25% of all cardiac tumors are malignant and arise from the mesenchyme to become sarcomas-angiosarcomas (hemangiosarcomas),rhadomyosarcomas, fibrosarcomas and lymphosarcomas. The most common site for the sarcomas is the right atrium.
