Three typs of surface w ashing agents (SWAs) for oil spills wer screended, using the inclined trough test method developed by Environment Canada. The cleaning effectivness of three agents in particular, based on a normal alkane solvent, are higher than commerically available products. The surface washing agents screened out have low dispersion effectiveness, between 1 and 1.2
