The use of Ni-based superalloys in high temperature applications is widespread. They are mostly used in aerospace and chemical engineering applications, where their resistance to oxidation at high temperature in aggressive environments, and their thermal properties make these alloys good candidates for such applications. These properties also make them interesting for use as interconnects in SOFCs working at intermediate and low temperatures. This paper presents the oxidation behaviour of a commercial Ni-based superalloy (57% Ni, 22% Cr, 14% W, 2% Mo, 3% Fe, 5% Co, 0.5% Mn, 0.4% Si, 0.3% Al, 0.1% C, 0.02% La, 0.015% B) when held in a pure oxygen atmosphere at 1073 K for different periods of time.
