Many analysis techniques have been used to reduce interior noise of passenger cars in a frequency range of 20-200Hz. In this study, a specialized program that has been developed based on a method for vibro-acoustic coupling and sensitivity analysis is demonstrated using both a simple car model and a real passenger car. In the analysis, both experimental results of structural modal testing and acoustic finite element results of interior cavity are used. From results of the analysis useful information for modifications can then be extracted to efficiently reduce noise at frequencies of interest. Some experiments are also reported to verify efficiency of modifications.
