Gas nitriding and ferritic nitrocarburizing with ZeroFlow method applied on range of S/W Europe furnaces is discussed in the paper. The method was created on the basis of thermodynamical kinetic and technological research of nitriding steel. In this method the process is carried out with the use of pure ammonia only, and the regulation of the chemical composition of the atmosphere in the retort, and as a consequence - the regulation of the growth kinetics of nitrided layer takes place due to periodic opening and closing of its flow to the retort.ZeroFlow nitriding enables a precise creation of nitrided layers in terms of required phase structure, thickness of existing layers and character of nitrogen concentration and hardness. ZeroFlow nitriding is characterized by an ammonia consumption that is several times lower than during currently used processes of controlled nitriding. As a consequence several times lower emission of exhaust gases to the Earth's atmosphere is achieved. Furnaces equipped with ZeroFlow nitriding technology require simpler and cheaper regulation and control system of atmosphere.
