摘要

Subclinical respiratory disease mighl have a severe economic impact for the swine producer. Control programmes should be implemented in order lo reduce the incidence of disease. The first step in any control programme is to gather solid data pertinent to factors and micro-organisms involved in the respiratory complex that is affecting the population. Health improvement must include adjustments in management practices as well as some type of slraiegy to reduce the microbiological challenge. It has been demonstrated thai the use of antimicrobials at the right time might curtail the colonisation of tissues by potential pathogens. The work presented here describes a series of trials carried out in order to find out whether the use of medication in feedwill reduce the incidence of subclinical respiratory disease in a farm afflicted by a considerable list of pathogens.
