The biosafety of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), especially foods with GMOs components and living GMOs in the environment is widely concerned all over the world. The first commercial available GMO crop is FLAVR-SAVR tomato. The most important commercial GMO crops are corn, soybean, cotton, rapeseed, potato, tobacco, squash, papaya, chicory. Nowadays, almost all the important crops are used to be artificially modified genetically. The methods used to identify the GMO products in the international transportation should be efficient, sensitive, time-saving, and accurate. The PCR is widely used in this field. The key factors reducing PCR sensitivity and assurance are the preparation of the high purity sample nucleic acids and discrimination of the target amplified products from non-specifically amplified molecules. Up to today there are no methods, which can be used widely to prepare nucleic acids for PCR from all the most important plants. A reliable new method, Capture-PCR-ELISA (cPCR-ELISA), was developed for the detection of GMOs. This method may be used widely, and be a resolution for the above mentioned PCR limited factors.
