Analysis of Menu Priorities for Web Sites of Tourism Information from the User's Standpoint

As the investigation about users, the NPD Online Research surveyed 13,000 visitors to the sites of American, Continental, Canadian, TWA, and United Airlines web sites in October of 1998. This survey suggested that less than one-third of the visitors purchase tickets online and the following features were ranked as "extremely/very important" to airline sites: delivery of up-to-date information (92%); information well organized (87%); search results relevant/accurate(97%); easy to use/navigate (87%) (Cyberaltas, 1999). Among four features, Kwon and Park (1999) studied 'information well organized' and 'easy navigation.' Menu items on tourism web sites were realized as a critical factor of easy navigation in this research. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the menu priorities for web sites of tourism information from the viewpoints of web users. This research will help to design and market successful web sites for tourism information.
