Experimental study on the concentration distribution of solid particles in centrifugal slurry impellers has been performed by means of high-speed photography and digital image processing technique while the particle content is less than 12 percent. The results show that the concentration is higher in the area near the pressure surface of the blade than that at other area through the blade-to-blade flow passage due to the action of inertia. The concentration distribution tends to be even at the leading edge of the impeller with the increase of the particle content. The test also shows that the particle content almost have no influence on concentration at the exit of impellers.
