This paper compares trends in financial support for research in cool season pulse crops in Australia, Canada, France, and the U.S.A. While the research objectives and priorities tend to be similar among the countries, there are significant differencesin the amounts of public funding for research. France, Australia, and Canada have had increased funding for grain legumes research while in the U.S.A. it has declined. Differences are seen in government support programs, grower assessments and private industry support.
