Several sites in south-east Glasgow, contaminated with chromite ore processing residue (COPR) containing up to 0.85 percent (w/w) Cr (VI), are currently under investigation. In addition to the occurrence of Cr (VI) in soil solutions and groundwatersof high pH (7.1 - 12.5), speciation studies suggest the unexpected presence of Cr (III), probably attributable to organic complexation.
