Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) is an excellent and widely used excipient in bead or pellet formulations. It was reported that when MCC is granulated with purified water, the resultant pellets exhibit varying degrees of controlled release as show by in-vitro dissolution testing by forming inert matrix~1.
