Brassinosteroids (BS) are plant-growth-promoting natural products similar in structure to animal steroid hormones and since the discovery of brassinolide from rape pollen in 1979, extensive studies on this notable substance have been undertaken worldwide. Several plant species have been found to contain brassinolide and a variety of structural analogues, and their characteristic physiological effects on the growth and development of plants as well as their potency in agricultural applicaitons have been examined~1,2,3. The activity of 24-epibrassinolide (EBL) in inclusion complex with beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) was analysed in the rice lamina inclination bioassay (RLI)~4 and, by computational calculations, was possible to find a preference for inclusion of the EBL molecuel to form 1:1 inclusion complex~5.
