Application of the Repeated Impact Test to the Study of Multi-layered Granules

摘要

A new method of testing granule strength and durability has been recently developed. This test which is known as the repeated impact test or boxing test measures the attribution which occurs when a granule is subjected to repeated, high velocity impacts with a flat rigid surface. The repeated imapct test provides more detailed information about the damage to the granule than do other related tests such as friability, elutriation or Heubach dust. We have looked at a variety of layered enzyme granules and have shown that the attrition rate of differnet layers varies greatly. This tes was used to identify the weak layers of the granule and the influence of various formualtion ingredients and processing parameters on the strength of these layers.
