The Project Management is an important part of software development process. Unfortunately, there are too many management problems in current software development projects. Such problems include schedule and budget overruns, outcomes - the final products or services - that do not fulfill the specified features and/or quality. In order to solve these drawbacks, it is necessary to focus on critical success factors, such as adequate communication channels or accurate/realistic budget and schedule. These factors, however, provide a way to solve project's overruns or product's insufficient features, but critical success factors do not solve these management problems themselves. The dissertation presented here aims to provide specific solutions to current management problems, focusing on two management aspects of software development: (i) the representation of project's data, and (ii) the management of software projects in multiproject environments.
