摘要

Nearly all major natural catastrophes of the last few decades occurred in cities or densely populated regions. The concurrence of a natural hazard with a high intensity and in an area with a high concentration of people or values is a prerequisite for the occurrence of a catastrophe loss. There is thus a direct correlation between the catastrophe risk and the number of cities exposed to hazards. The more cities there are in the hazard zones of the world, the greater the likelihood of a direct hit by a natural hazard.
