The most important subject in the stability of dynamic of railway vehicles is the hunting phenomenon. The hunting phenomenon is a self-excited oscillation. This means that, if the system were held fixed and prevented from the oscillation, the force acting on the system would cease to act. This phenomenon is special of railway vehicles. The hunting motion arising with the increase of running speed and in the critical speed and it make the wheel and rail wear, decreasing of ride quality and inaccessibility to higher velocity. This paper has introduced to be used the flexible wheels for increasing of the critical velocity and preventing from the hunting. In this study, it is shown that the wheelset stability with flexible wheels is improved than the conventional rigid wheelset, the hunting happens in higher velocity. The region stability is determined with drawing the eigenvalue loci of the roots of the characteristic equation. It is shown that stability of the vehicle is improved when the flexible wheels coupled wheelset (FWCW) is introduced in compare to conventional rigid wheel, and for FWCW the hunting phenomenon happens in a higher critical speed.
