The transportation of goods within a region is mainly undertaken by trucks. The volume for this method of transportation shows strong growth over the next several years. The predicted transport volumes for the European Union can be seen in picture 1. It illustrates a comparison of the different transport possibilities. While transport by railroads and inland navigation remain quite constant truck transport is due to increase by nearly 150%.
