To study the possibility of promoting effect of p - sitosterol (0,10,20 and 40mgL" ) for increasing the nodule development through inoculation of Rhizobiumjapomcum (0,20 and 40gkg4) and their interaction effect on growth, yield and biochemical constituents of soybean plant, two trials were conducted under green house conditions. Node number was significantly increased by inoculation(40gkg~(-1)) at vegetative and 20gkg~(-1)at flowering stages.p - sitosterol (40mgL~(-1)) application significantly increased nodes number/plant at vegetative and 20mgL~(-1) at flowering stages. Also, the interaction between Rhizobium inoculation(40gkg~(-1)) and p- sitosterol (40 mgL~(-1)) resulted in the maximal values of root and shoot mass at seed filling stage, p -sitosterol (10mgL~(-1)) caused a significant increment of seed yield and 100-seed mass. Biochemical constituents in the leaves, as sugars, free amino acids, protein, phenols and indoles were significantly differed according to Rhizobacterin inoculation rateand p-sitosterol concentration at all physiological stages. Which were flocculated within or between roots and leaves of soybean.
