To investigate the effect of longitudinal vortices behind tubes, we have performed flindamental experiments on heat transfer and pressure loss with finned-tube bundles having vortex generators mounted on the fin surfaces. The overall heat transfer on the fin has been measured by a transient heat transfer experiment based on modified single-blow method in the Reynolds number range of 300 to 2700. The measured heat transfer and pressure loss of test cores with winglet-type vortex generators were compared to those of finned-tube without vortex generator under the similar conditions. The effect caused by vortex generators shows 10-25% increase in the heat transfer enhancement, 20-35% increase in the pressure loss, in comparison with finned-tube bundles without vortex generators.
