摘要

High-integrity welds were made between Ti alloys and Ni-base alloys by using a diffusion-barrier interlayer material compatible with both base metals. The favorable results of this study indicate that niobium is a suitable interlayer material, and incorporates easily into dissimilar metal joint designs and processing by conventional IFR welding techniques. Based on this study's findings, future work includes expanding the alloy combinations to include Alloy 718 and other titanium alloys.
