Transitional flow over a compressor blade, under the influence of free-stream turbulence, is studied numerically using Large-Eddy Simulation. Numerous challenges are addressed, from the decay of free-stream turbulence to the near-wall resolution needed for a correct description of the growth of instability waves on both the suction and pressure sides. Two cases (with and without free-stream turbulence) are simulated and compared with DNS data. The performance of several LES model is also analysed with reference to their formulation.
