A comparison between the predictions of the wind-induced velocity field in the Balaton Lake (Hungary) obtained with a code solving both the fully-3D and quasi-3D equations of motion, was carried out. Results from preliminary predictions are presented showing that the hydrostatic pressure assumption induces a significant underestimation of the computed horizontal velocities especially as far as the transient motion is concerned.
