The objective of this work is to compare the suitability of three data envelopment methods (DEA) applied in the context of linear programming for the analysis of the operational performance of multiple units in a selected group or sample with high data variability. In this sense, the use of average values that would imply discarding valuable information could be avoided. This approach will be combined with the life cycle assessment methodology (LCA) to evaluate ecoefficiency of the different systems. While the integration of both methodologies has been developed in the past, no analysis has been performed on the selection of the DEA models that can be applied. In the case study of multiple units considered here for mussel cultivation, radial models, as CCR, were not suitable due to the direct dependence of the inputs with the output, which would lead to high efficiency values for most units. Inside the non-radial models, the SBM model provides a more accurate perspective because inefficient units within the sample can be identified. This combined approach of DEA and LCA was later implemented in an Excel tool with the aim of developing a simple and user-friendly tool accessible to all researchers.
