Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of native bioabsorbable polymer Rapamycin eluting stent (Excel stent) for treating coronary artery disease (CAD). Methods: From February 2007 to October 2008, a total of 127 consecutive patients with CAD who received Excel stent implantation, 185 Excel stents were implanted in 152 criminal-related arteries. Follow up through out-patient department and telephone equipment was extended from 3 months to 6 months, to observe the improvement of clinical symptoms and incidence of cardiovascular events during hospitalization and follow-up period. Results: All the stents were implanted successfully with no MACE including additional revascularization of the index target lesion on operations. Clinical follow up showed that, among 127 patients, clinical symptoms were completely remission in 66 patients(52.0%), apparently remission in 55 patients(43.3%), partially remission in 2 patients(1.5%), unchanged in 3 patients(2.4%), only one patient(0.8%) felt aggravated. Total effective rate was 96.9%. Among 127 patients, one patient suffered congestive heart failure, and no one suffered myocardial infarction, coronary artery bypass or sudden death. Conclusions: Implantation of the Excel stents in patients with CAD is safe and feasible. Excel stent has a favorable clinical efficacy.
