The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of the new GEN-PROBE APTIMA Combo 2 Assay (direct detection) in comparison with the GEN-PROBE AMPCT assay.APTIMA Combo 2 is a target amplification nucleic acid probe test that utilizes target capture for the qualitative detection and differentiation of ribosomal RNA from Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae in endocervical and male urethral swab specimens, and in female and male urine specimens.
