Hybrid laser arc welding technology attracts a considerable attention recently due to its advantages. This technology has been widely applied to weld aluminum alloy. This paper aims at revealing the correlation of hybrid laser arc welding process parameters and tensile strength of the aluminum alloy. A central composite design was used to perform experiments for obtaining input-output data. The results shown that the confidence level of the developed model was over ninety-five percent. Influences of the single factor and interactive effect on tensile strength are analyzed. Laser power is the most significant factor on tensile strength. The interaction effect of laser power and welding speed on tensile strength is significant. Using the response surfaces plots, the optimal hybrid laser arc welding parameters for maximum tensile strength are calculated.
