Recent developments allow the calculation of welding arc parameters using several ways. From this we can obtain information on the arc properties such as its current, its temperature, the arc pressure, etc. This study shows how we were able to calculate both the welding arc and the molten pool conditions by combining the two aforementioned numerical simulation methods. Indeed, we applied the Particle Method for the simulation of the molten pool in order to predict its shape, and used the grid method for the simulation of the arc. The Moving Particle Semi-Implicit (MPS) method was applied.In this study, a three dimensional particle simulation model of the molten pool was developed. The convection in the molten pool and the phase change could be analyzed using three dimensional particle models. It should be noted that a difference in welding conditions causes a different convection and therefore alters the penetration shape, but that the developed simulation was able to predict this change.
