Dictionaries are a basic means to allow the coherent interpretation and processing of product data in B2B data exchange. Unfortunately, the existence of different dictionaries and dictionary information models is a barrier for B2B data exchange, in particular for small companies. To overcome this problem, we have developed a tool called Dictionary Mediator. It allows to define mappings between different dictionaries for converting and querying catalogs across these dictionaries. In this paper, we describe the basic mapping constellations and the underlying implementation concepts, and we give a brief overview about practical applications of the Dictionary Mediator.
