The paper illustrates the Benchmarking Service, which is part of a broader project, named as Remote Factory project, which envisages the possibility to carry out a remote scheduling and control process of a manufacturing production system through the use of web-based technologies. In particular, the paper aims to illustrate the Benchmarking Reference Framework for production system modelling developed using UML specification, which constitutes the basic architecture for describing one industrial test case to be evaluated within the Benchmarking Service.
