In the recent years, the need of Policies to dynamically face security problems has grown in all computer system areas, especially in distributed and heterogeneous systems where security is a strong requirement, and in Security Infrastructures, in particular in Public Key Infrastructures on which our attention is focused. In this paper, we first present a survey on security policies and policy languages used to formally express security statements and then we present our policy-based approach to solve security interoperability problems that arise in un-trusted domains.
