A wheat landrace, ICDW8861, has long glumes, and its chromosome number is 2n=42. Linkage analysis and telosomic mapping confirmed that P~(5580); the gene for long glume of ICDW8861 is located on the long arm of chromosome 7A, 12cM from the centromere. It is speculated that ICDW8861 was originated from spontaneous hybridization of a hexaploid wheat landrace and Triticum polonicum.
