Tamnava - East is one of four open pit mines of Kolubara coal basin with the production of twelve million tons of coal per one year. It is a half of the production of coal in the Kolubara basin. In the summer 1993 we had big problem with sliding of western slope. About 6 million m~3 of overburden and coal fell down in the open pit and stoped all production of coal. Geometry of slope was according to the project but the analysis of sliding showed that the method for calculation of slope stability was not coresponding with physical process of sliding. In this work I will try to explain how I see that and how this calculation should be.
