Mechanized excavation, cutting and drilling methods have been widely used in mining activities, tunnel excavations and natural stone cutting operations. In order to perform a good excavation, cutting or drilling the machinability of the current rocks must be determined. The rock abrasivity is one of the most important parameter for the selection of the cutting tools for the excavation equipments in the mechanized excavation. The Cerchar abrasivity index is one of the most common testing procedures used for the laboratory assessment of hard rock abrasivity worldwide.
