A scenario of self-organization revealed by experiments performed on collisional plasma emphasizes new aspects concerning the intrinsic mechanism that determines the nonlinear behavior of systems driven away from the thermodynamic equilibrium. Its consideration offers new possibilities to understand some challenging problems of nonequilibrium physics, but also phenomena of self-organization appearing in other branches of science and nature.
