Modern coating techniques based on nanotechnology enable development,tailoring and characterisation of new coating systems which provide improved anti-soiling properties to different substrate materials.Coated products in which nanotechnology and sol-gel technique have bee applied to wood and wood composite materials to improve hydrophobic and oleophobic properties.Selected coating systems were consisted of polymeric network and ceramic compounds.The improved anti-soiling property of the coatings was due to the increased oleophobicity and hydrophobicity.
