摘要

In the last fifty years, innovation has played an essential role for improving the competitiveness of European agriculture and of food industry: genetics through new varieties, crop protection through agrochemicals, equipment, new cropping systems, supply chain organization, etc. In order to achieve such a challenge, various strategies for technology transfer and a coherent R&D system have been put in place by a joint action of farmer organizations and public bodies. In France, Chambers of Agriculture at the regional level and Technical Institutes skilled on specific production chains have been accompanying farmers in improving their competitiveness and meeting both regulation and market requirements. For the oilseed sector, the technical institute,CETIOM, was established in 1957 to assist in the development of oilseed production processes in France.
