China shares nearly 50 years long career in developing its titanium industry. A great progress on the production, research and application of titanium has been made in China. Since 2001, Chinese titanium industry has entered rapid developing period. In 2002, the output of Ti mill products was over 5000t, the actual consumption of which reached about 6000t, most of them were used in civil sectors such as chemistry, petrochemistry, metallurgy, light industry and daily necessities et al. At present the research on titanium and its alloys is very active in China. 5 systems of Ti and Ti alloys have been basically formed at home, including high temperature Ti alloys, high strength- high toughness Ti alloys, seashore Ti alloys, corrosion resistant Ti alloys and biomedical Ti alloys. China Titanium Association was founded in 2002, nearly 100 enterprises and institutions joined the association. Chinese current situation of titanium industry is bright. It is believed that the output of both Ti sponge and its mill products will reach the level of 10000t/a. China will become one of the most important components in the international titanium industry.
