In order to make possible the selective sorting of lead (II) pollutes erythrocytes cells in a whole blood flow, the first step is to use a sheath flow chamber to focus the blood cells line up in a micro channel. Later, the resulting lead (II) pollutes erythrocytes cells are trapped and separated from the bloodstream by applying other technologies. Creating the polluted erythrocytes make this subsequent separation possible. To effect the actual separation, a micro channel with multiple electric strips has been designed on a silicon substrate and fabricated with micro-electro-mechanical system technology. The erythrocytes cells can be observed via upconversion fluorescence imaging. A local dielectrophoretic (DEP) force, obtained from nonuniform electric fields, was used for manipulating and trapping the polluted erythrocytes in a continuous flow. The experimental studies show that the compounds incur a local dielectrophoretic field when they are suspended in a continuous flow (Re=5.0) and exposed to AC fields at 200 kHz frequency. Using this device, the strip electrodes provide a local dielectrophoretic field strong enough to manipulate and attract nearby polluted erythrocytes in a continuous biological flow.
