Trigeminal neuropathy (TNP) is one of the most difficult condition to treat. Traditionally, stellate ganglion block (SGB) has been used for the treatment of TNP. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of SGB on TNP after nerve injury. Previously, to characterize the occurrence of TNP complicating the abnormal sensations of patients after orthognathic surgery, we reviewed the 104 patients who undergone orthognathic surgery. It tends to there is relationship between nerve nerve compression of edema or hematoma and prevalence of TNP. And then, other 59 TNP patients were divided three groups with stage of treatment. And we monitored electric detection threshold (EDT) and interviewed abnormal sensations by twelve months. From our results, early treatment of SGB made the recovery period shorten. Furthermore, SGB alleviated the prevalence of abnormal sensation twelve months after surgery. It was concieved that SGB was effective in preventing development of TNP after nerve injury.
