摘要

The paper aims to investigate the use of pneumatic structures in the design, manufacturing and operations of lenticular, deltoid or winged —hull airships. The comparative study of the using of pneumatic structures respect to the current adopted solutions, allows for evaluating the possible benefits and their trade—off with costs in the phases of building and the performances in some airship flights phases. Such a pneumatic structures consists of hollow tubes which will be stiffened by pressure that will be fix to the envelope of the airship: in such way the airship structures will became more rigid. This innovating of the design should allow for a reduction of structure mass and if possible should improve dynamic and mechanical characteristics of unconventional airships. At the same time, difficulties faced during the manufacturing and operations should be limited due to simplicity of these pneumatic structures
