Within the framework of the Frontiers Prevention Project (FPP), a survey was carried out among men who have sex with men (MSM) in 8 cities in Ecuador. The most surprising finding from the survey was a low rate of condom use among a group of men who reported penetration in almost 100(percent) of their sexual encounters. Furthermore, a large number of the men in this group identified themselves as bisexual, and the data gathered showed that condom use with their female partners was even lower than with their male partners. Given the high concentration of the HIV/AIDS epidemic among MSM in Ecuador, this result is particularly important for targeting of prevention activities.
