摘要

Notwithstanding the sharp decrease of notified cases of AIDS which followed the introduction of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) in the year 1996, multiple epidemiological and clinical features of AIDS are changing, due to the apparent increase of "AIDS presenters". These are represented by individuals with a missed or neglected HIV infection, who progressed towards AIDS without taking any benefit from the availability of HAART. In all these patients, the diagnosis of AIDS is concurrent with the serological detection of HIV infection.
